The report below is per drawer, not the total. If you're looking to see the business totals across all drawers, use the Totals Report.

When you close a register at the end of a shift or end of a day, a Z-report prints like the one below:

The section in red is the payment summary, which shows net collected amounts per payment method 

The second section in blue shows the Over/Short amount if you use drawer counting to track over/short amounts. Here is what each line means:

: this is how much the register's starting balance was. This is entered when the cashier opens the register at the start of their shift.

: this is how much the cashier entered as the closing amount at the end of the shift when clicking 'Close Register'.

: this is how many payouts occurring during this shift, which is cash taken out of the drawer to payout vendors.

: this is how much was entered for cash drops throughout the shift. Drops are batches of cash taken out of the drawer during the shift.

: this is how much was added to the drawer during the shift. This can be used to add cash to a drawer that needs more bills or coins.

: this is the difference between the expected cash balance and the counted amount in the drawer. Here is how expected cash and counted are defined:

: this is the net change from the starting count and the ending count. Simply showing the net change in the drawer between both counts.

The section in yellow shows any action where cash was removed or added to the drawer which is NOT due to a sale. These could be drops, payouts, or cash additions.

End of shift report

To open and close your drawer, the first thing is to make sure the toggle for "enable closings" is active in your Store Configuration page.

To open your drawer at the start of a shift, just go to the register icon on the upper left of the app window.

This will open the Select Workstation page. Choose the register you are on using the dropdown menu (it is really important to choose the right register). Then click "Open Register."

If your drawer was properly closed the night before, you will see an "Opening Drawer Count" page pop-up.

Here you can use each field to count your opening cash balance in coins and bills. You can enter a number or use the + and - buttons.

Once you are done counting, click on the "Start Shift" button. Your shift will have begun.

When you close your drawer will depend on how your store prefers to do it. Some stores do a drawer count after each cashier shift, some stores do it for the entire day shift. Whichever option your store follows, once you are ready to close your drawer, just follow the steps below.

Go to Shift Transactions. This will take you to the Open Transactions page.

Once there, you can see a preview of your drawer movements, payments by type, etc. But what you are looking for is the "Close Register" button.

Once you click it, you will see a warning asking you whether you are sure you want to close your drawer, as this action cannot be undone.

If you are sure, just click "Yes." This will open the "Closing Drawer Count" page.

Just use the different fields to enter the amount of each coin and bill currently on your drawer and click "End Shift." This will immediately print a shift report using your receipt printer. -Note that you can also print your count by clicking on "Print Counts" before closing the drawer.

If you come in in the morning and your POs does not prompt you to do a count when opening your register, 

Make sure to close it before starting your shift.

Opening And Closing Your Drawer

There are many reasons you may need to remove or add cash from/to your drawer (outside of cash transactions). A few could be that you are paying a vendor, giving out petty cash for a store expense, doin a cash drop before closing time, sending someone to get change from the bank, adding cash to have a balanced drawer, etc.

In Drinks POS we have three different categories to do this, and you can access them all by clicking the "Payout" button on the red hot keys section of your sale screen:

This will open a pop-up window with three options:

Just select the one you need and complete the cash form (number of coins, number of bills):

Once the information is entered, just click "Submit" and a receipt will print.

You can print your counts without hitting submit using the "Print Counts" button.

You can open the drawer from this screen to be able to count the money using the drawer icon button above "Submit Payout."

Use the "Notes" section to specify what the transaction is for.

 is for money coming out of your cash drawer. Usually being paid to someone for a service provided to the store or purchased merchandise (technician, plumber, vendor, etc)

 is for money coming into your cash drawer. Usually money being retuned (if someone went to get change, for instance), cash needed to set the drawer at the start of the day, etc

 is for money leaving your drawer to a permanent place (the bank, your safe, etc). Usually when you want to make sure the register does not have too much cash at one time.
