Manual Discount Rules

On the sale screen you have the ability to apply discounts at the time of checkout. Here are the possible options for you to do. Manual discounts override any other applicable discounts. Ex: If there was a promotion, it would override the promotional discount even if the promotion gave a better discount. Setting a discount to 0 will disable promotions. This works at the cart level or at the line-item level as well. Minimum prices will be honored always when doing manual discounts. Discounts work on the subtotal of the item. Not the unit price and it also does not take fees + tax into account. Tax will be adjusted based on the new subtotal.

Cart Discount

This applies a cart level discount off the entire total. It will look at the cart total and try to apply a discount a maximum discount off the entire cart. If the total was $100 and you did 10% off, it will try to get $10 off.

If one item was priced at $20 with discounting disabled and a second item was priced at $20 with discounting allowed, it will $4 off the second item to reach the 10% off on the cart.

Line-Item Discount

You have the ability to discount one line-items or multiple line items at once. Only the selected lines will get the discount. Applying a percentage discount will apply per line item. Applying a fixed line-item discount apply that discount on EACH line. Meaning giving $5 off for 3 line-items will do $15 off. This will still honor minimum price.

This will target the specified line items only.

This will target only that one item.

Manual Gift Card Discounts

If you wish to give customers a discount on gift cards, this is possible with line-item discounts. You must only target that one item to do this. First, add the gift card to the cart with the amount you want the customer to get. Then click the button discount button to apply a discount. You can do either fixed or percentage. You will then see the price be the amount being added to the card and the "item total" be the amount that the customer is being charged.
